Introducing Alameda Connect – A New Name for the Same Trusted Service: The City of Alameda’s Paratransit Program has a new name: Alameda Connect! Our new logo and materials reflect the City's ongoing commitment to helping older adults and people with disabilities stay connected to the people, places, and services that matter most.

The City of Alameda offers accessible, affordable transportation services for seniors and people with disabilities. Our programs augment East Bay ParatransitAC Transit, BART, and the San Francisco Bay Ferry

Our Programs
  • AIM Program (Alameda Independent Mobility) provides subsidized rides on Uber/Lyft to eligible City of Alameda residents who are ages 70+ OR at least 18 years old and East Bay Paratransit certified. 
  • Free AC Transit Bus Passes for low income older adults and people with a certified disability. Our waitlist is closed and we are currently not accepting applications for the program.

Alameda Connect Programs are funded by Measure BB

AIM - Alameda Independent Mobility 

AIM (Alameda Independent Mobility) provides subsidized Uber and Lyft rides for eligible residents. It helps fill transportation gaps like same-day trips and medical return rides that are difficult to pre-schedule through East Bay Paratransit.

Who Qualifies? 

  • Alameda residents aged 70+. 
  • Residents 18+ who are East Bay Paratransit (EBP) certified. 

How AIM Works 

The City of Alameda partners up with Eden I&R, Inc  2-1-1 Transportation to schedule subsidized Lyft and Uber rides.  

  • Up to 6 Uber or Lyft rides per month within Alameda County

Riders pay:

  • The first $4 of each trip
  • Any amount over $25
  • Payment must be made with a credit, debit, or prepaid debit card

Service Hours 

Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM – 5:30 PM 
Effective July 1, 2025 

Rides outside of service hours  

Eden I&R offers a flexible booking system, FLEX RIDES. Please call 2-1-1 during their service hours to schedule rides.  

Trip Types 

Use AIM for: 

  • Same-day medical appointments 
  • Shopping and errands 
  • Movies and leisure activities 

Note: Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs) are not guaranteed due to limited availability in Alameda County. 

Additional Support 

Eden I&R also operates the 2-1-1 social services helpline. When calling to request a ride, you can also ask for help with food, healthcare, and other resources. 

How to Apply 

Note: Enrollment is first-come, first-served, based on available funding.  

  1. Complete the AIM Program Application
  2. Provide required documents
    • Proof of age
    • Proof of residency
  3. Submit application:

Transportation 101

Join paratransit staff for our FREE Transportation 101 workshop to learn about the various transportation options for Mastick Senior Center members. Lots of resources are available to answer your questions and help you travel around Alameda... and more!

Guest speakers provide information on obtaining a senior clipper card and how to use it, safe driving and more.

Mastick Monthly Trips

The City of Alameda financially assists with transportation expenses for the Mastick Senior Center monthly trip program. Travel destinations may include various Bay Area locations (i.e. San Francisco, Livermore, etc.). Sign up is on a first come, first served basis.

  • Eligibility requirements: Must be 50 years of age or older and a member of the Mastick Senior Center.
  • Cost: Trip fees range from $45 to $75, depending on trip amenities or class registration fees.

Leisure Club

The City of Alameda provides a van to pick up and return members of the Alameda Recreation & Park Department Leisure Club, a social recreation program offered twice a month for adults, 18 years or older, with disabilities.

  • Eligibility requirements: Must be 18 years or older, with special needs.
  • Cost: Free.
  • Contact: Please contact the Alameda Recreation & Park Department at (510)747-7529 for more information.

Emergency Wheelchair Services – Now Available

If a wheelchair or scooter breakdown leaves you stranded, FASTER (Fast Accessible Safe Transportation and Emergency Repair) service will connect you with one of their Repair Technicians, who will troubleshoot the problem over the phone and drive to your breakdown location as soon as possible to fix it on the spot or get you to a safe location.

This program is funded by Measures B & BB through the Alameda County Transportation Commission.

Who Qualifies?

Easy Does It provides emergency wheelchair and mobility device repair for residents in:

  • Alameda
  • Albany
  • Berkeley
  • Castro Valley
  • Emeryville
  • Hayward
  • Oakland
  • San Leandro
  • San Lorenzo

If your device breaks down while you're out:

Call Easy Does It Dispatch at 510-704-2111

  • A technician will try to troubleshoot by phone
  • If needed, they’ll meet you on-site for minor repairs
  • If repairs aren’t possible, they’ll help get you home safely

Monday–Friday, 10 AM – 6 PM

Free AC Transit Bus Passes

The City of Alameda’s Paratransit Program offers free AC Transit bus passes to eligible residents.

Who Qualifies?

  • Alameda residents aged 65+ who meet low-income requirements.
  • Alameda residents aged 18–64 with a certified disability and who meet low-income requirements (Proof of disability is required).

Important Details

  • Passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis, as funding allows.
  • Applicants age 50+ must maintain a free Mastick Senior Center membership, renewed annually in July.

How to Apply

When the waitlist reopens, you’ll need to:

  1. Complete an application. 
  2. Provide the following required documents: 
    • Proof of age (e.g., valid photo ID with name, birthdate, and current address)
    • Proof of residency (Utility bill with your name and current address) 
    • Proof of low-income status: 
      • Enrollment in AMP's Energy Assistance Program 
      • EBT/CalFresh Enrollment
      • CalWorks enrollment
      • MediCal enrollment
      • Income tax statement
      • SSI/SSA

This program is full and we are currently not accepting applications. Applications will become available when the program resumes.
