The City of Alameda participates in an annual National Night Out, a police-community partnership looking to combat crime, drug, and violence within the city while promoting safety and neighborhood unity. National Night Out brings out community members from over 16,500 neighborhoods across the nation annually.

Every year on the first Tuesday of August, the Alameda Police Department encourages the Island to lock their doors and show their support for this event by spending the evening outside with their neighbors, community groups, and public safety officers. Festivities can include; block parties, BBQ, musical performances, street festivals, etc.

Officers will spend the evening visiting registered communities, chatting with residents, handing out goodies, and answering questions. To help in the planning process of your next big event, APD has created a helpful toolkit with ideas, rentals companies, and neighborhood promotional flyers.
