Next date: Saturday, May 23, 2026 | 09:00 AM to 10:15 AM
Lace up your walking shoes, gather your family, friends and neighbors and join us on an hour-long walk on designated Saturday mornings of each month, May through October! Rain or Shine!
Whether you are new to Alameda or lived here for decades, this is a great way to begin a Saturday morning exploring our neighborhoods and discovering new areas of Alameda. Pre-registration is not necessary for Alameda Walks.
All walks begin at 9:00 a.m. Where walks are longer, it will be noted and new walks are indicated. Look for the red Alameda Walks hats! While we love furry pets, we prefer that they wait for you at home.
SATURDAY, MAY 23, 2026 - GOLD COAST NEIGHBORHOOD WALK Meet at Franklin Park, 1432 San Antonio Avenue, Alameda
Learn how Franklin Park evolved from a private retreat to today's recreation park. Explore the Victorian Era at its finest: Italianate, Queen Anne and Colonial Revival-style homes all vie for our attention. A walk along San Antonio Avenue will bring us to the Tilden family's "Wedding Cake House". Listen carefully and you may hear echoles of the oversized 19th-century electric streetcar rumbling by us on the way to Ninth Street. Dennis Evanosky will lead this walk.
NOTE: WALK LASTS 1 HOUR, 15 MINUTES
