Lace up your walking shoes, gather your family, friends and neighbors and join us on an hour-long walk on designated Saturday mornings of each month, May through October! Rain or Shine!
Whether you are new to Alameda or lived here for decades, this is a great way to begin a Saturday morning exploring our neighborhoods and discovering new areas of Alameda.
Pre-registration is not necessary for Alameda Walks. All walks begin at 9:00 a.m. and last approximately one hour. Where walks are longer, it will be noted and new walks are indicated. Look for the red Alameda Walks hats! While we love furry pets, we prefer that they wait for you at home.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2026 - BAY FARM FROM GODFREY PARK Meet at Godfrey Park, 281 Beach Road
The walk will stroll through land once home to farms famous at first for their hops and asparagus. We will get to know the families who arrived here in the 1850's and who farmed here until the 1980's. We will see the last surviving family home and the site of the well that supplied the early farms with water. We will also learn how the developers intruded here and how homes gradually replaced the farmlands. Dennis Evanosky will lead this walk.
NOTE: Walk lasts 1 hour, 15 minutes
