Our very popular Swim Program, which consist of swim lessons, private lessons, lap swim, tiny tot swim and public recreational swim, operates during the summer months (June, July & early August).

We share the use of the swimming facilities with the Alameda Unified School District so during the school year, our swim centers are not open to the public.

We will be offering a few Spring Session Aquatic Programs during March - April 2020 (see schedule below).

Spring 2020 Swim Programs will take place at the Encinal Swim Center, 230 Central Ave, Alameda, CA 94501, (510) 522-4590 starting on Saturdays, March 21 to April 18, 2020

Swim at your own pace.  Kick boards provided.  Must be at least 16 years old.  This is a drop-in activity so pre-registration is not necessary.  Payments will be taken at the Encinal Swim Center.  You may also purchase a reduced rate 10-swim pass available at the Swim Center.

For Ages 6 Months +
A great way to get your young child familiarized witht he pool and prepares them for future swim lessons.  Aquatic Staff assists parents with introducing techniques to help their children become comfortable in the water.  Parent or guardian must be at least 16 years of age and accompany each child.  Swim diapers are required for children who are not potty trained.  This is a drop-in activity so pre-registration is not necessary.  All payments will be taken at the Swim Center.  Discount rate cards available at Swim Center.  Fee covers parent/guardian and child.

We are exited to offer group swim lessons during the Spring season.  This 5-week session is a great way to give you and your family a preview of what's to come this summer.

Summer Tots and Youth Group Lessons (Ages 3 to 15 Years)
All swim classes follow the American Red Cross Level system.  Visit www.redcross.org for level requirements.  Each student will be tested by staff and placed in classes according to Red Cross standards.

Private Swim Lessons - All Ages
Swim Tutor Private Lessons are 30 minutes in length and tailored to fit the participant's skill level.  Lessons are taught by Certified Water Safety Instructors.  Each time slot has 3-4 spots available.

Special Needs Private Swim Lessons - All Ages
Special Needs Swim Tutor Private Lessons are 30 minutes in length and tailored to fit the participant's skill level.  All lesson staff are Water Safety Instructor Certified.

This American Red Cross course will train individuals to teach others how to swim.  Future instructors will learn how to use course materials, develop lesson plans, conduct classes, evaluate students and complete course records.  Participants must pass a swim and water safety skills test.

This is an open swim program designed for recreational swimmers of all ages and abilities.  Children under 7 years of age and those under 50 inches tall must be accompanied in the water by someone who possesses a level 4 swim card and/or is 13 years of age.  Participants over 18 years of age can have two children in the water simultaneously.  Children under 7 years may not be left unattended at any time.  Drop in cards available at the swim center.  Please note that swim hours may be reduced due to low attendance or poor weather.

Aquatic exercise is a great low impact activity that takes the pressure off joints, bones and muscles.  Water provides natural resistance which can help strengthen muscles.  Class will take place in waist high heated water.  Participants may bring water shoes, hand webs or other resistance items.  Discount rate drop in cards are available at the Swim Center.  Must be at least 16 years old.  This is a drop-in activity so pre-registration is not neccesary.  All payments will be taken at the Swim Center.

The City of Alameda Swim Championship is sponsored by ARPD in cooperation with the Alameda Gators Swim Team.  This Meet is organized and run by dedicated volunteers, parents, and coaches and friends for the sole enjoyment of their children and to foster their continued interest in swimming.
