Encinal Boat Ramp

Portions of the Encinal boat ramp and parking lot will be intermittently closed April 22 – 25, 2026 (through 12:00 PM) for derelict vessel removal by the Alameda Police Department.

JANUARY 2026: One of the two docks and gangway at the Encinal Boat Ramp will be temporarily removed for repairs. The remaining dock will be open for public use.

Established in 1981

The Encinal Boat Ramp is located at 150 Central Avenue, west of Encinal High School.

The Encinal Boat Launch Facility (Facility) is a public marina launch and is an important recreational facility for the community of boaters, paddlers and sailors. For this Facility, the City of Alameda (City) received two grants from the Division of Boating and Waterways. One grant was for the planning, construction design, and permits, in the amount of $300,000, and the other grant was for construction, in the amount of $1,450,000.

A new two-lane boat ramp was installed
Removed two piles and installed four new piles;
Installed two boat docks - one for motorized boats and one for non-motorized watercraft;
Installed a new restroom, including a new outdoor shower and fish cleaning station;
Built new concrete pathways and a kayak laydown pad;
Installed lighting;
ADA improvements; and
Resurfaced and restriped the parking lot.

The rockwall is still available for fishing and the beach access remains open for all non-motorized boat launching.
