Teen Volunteer Programs

Making the Most of Your Volunteer Experience

As your students participate in volunteer opportunities through ARPD programs, we focus on goals to make it a meaningful experience. We help teens earn their required volunteer hours, and we also teach them basic responsibilities and expectations that come with volunteering.

Learn Life Skills

Volunteering is an opportunity for students to learn important life skills such as responsibility, punctuality, communication, teamwork, and following through on a commitment. These are skills that will benefit them in school, future jobs, college and throughout their lives.

Commit and Communicate

When a student signs up for a volunteer shift, we expect them to understand that they are making a commitment.

Volunteer Shift Expectations:
  • Arrive on time
  • Be prepared to help
  • Follow instructions
  • Stay for the agreed-upon time
  • Communicate with us in advance if an unexpected situation prevents them from attending

Build Good Habits

We also want students to understand that volunteer hours are earned through participation and responsibility. Simply signing up for a shift does not guarantee credit. Students are expected to meet the requirements of the volunteer opportunity in order to receive their hours.

We appreciate parents supporting their students as they learn these expectations. Our intention is not to make volunteering difficult, but to use these experiences as a way to help students develop the habits and character needed to become dependable and responsible members of their community.

Thank You For Your Continued Support

Thank you for partnering with us in teaching our students that volunteering is not just about earning hours. It's about making a commitment, showing up, contributing, and being someone others can depend on.
