Emergency Housing at Alameda Point for Alameda’s Homeless  

The City of Alameda lacks sufficient housing space for our unhoused residents. To address this need, the City Council approved using existing real estate assets located in Alameda Point in order to convert vacant homes into Emergency Supportive Homeless Housing. Please join City staff for a community listening session that will provide more information about this program and its proposed changes and hear comments and concerns from residents.

A community meeting was held on November 29, 2021 to provide public comment on this project. This public comment has been taken into consideration and changes have been made to the final programming being recommended to the City Council. Three options using thee vacant homes at Alameda Point are being proposed to the City Council:

• The use of one home for emergency housing for individuals who are unhoused, providing five to six beds
• The use of two homes for emergency housing for families who are unhoused, with each home serving one household  
• The use of three homes for emergency housing for individuals who are homeless (providing up to eighteen beds) or the use of three homes for emergency housing for families who are homeless (serving three households)
