Street Repairs Continue
Published on October 06, 2020
The City’s annual street repair and intersection visibility improvement work has commenced and will be active through the end of October. Although we do our best to minimize disruptions, there will be traffic, parking, dust, noise and other minor construction impacts. ‘No-Parking/Tow-Away’ signs will be posted 72 hours in advance of any planned work to inform residents of upcoming construction dates and parking restrictions. Normal construction work hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Safety protocols required by the Alameda County Shelter in Place Order for construction projects will be implemented at all times. Bus stop access will be maintained throughout the project.
There are three types of repair work: 1) streets being treated with a rubber chip seal then a slurry seal; 2) streets only needing a slurry seal; and 3) streets only needing crack sealing. The first two groups will also have signage, striping, and pavement markings replaced.
The streets being treated with a rubber chip seal and a slurry seal will be impacted most, given the extent and phasing of work. The rubber chip seal is first, which will impact parking and through traffic for only a short period, estimated at 30 minutes. A week later, the slurry seal is applied and will impact traffic for several hours with limited access to residential driveways during this time period. The last phase of the work is two weeks later, and involves replacing all traffic markings. The following streets are in this group:
- Basinside Way, from Clipper Drive to Oyster Pond Road
