East End/Bay Farm Island Dog Park

Strong community interest has been expressed over the last several years to create a dog park on the East End and/or Bay Farm Island.  The City Council approved $75,000 for Fiscal Year 2021-22 to build one or two new dog parks to meet this need.  Numerous sites were evaluated for suitability and sites at Krusi Park, Towata Park and Leydecker Park were brought to the Recreation and Parks Commission for discussion on September 9, 2021.  The Alameda Recreation and Park Department issued a community-wide survey which received over 1,600 responses.

On December 9, 2021, the Recreation and Parks Commission will review the survey results, hear public feedback and further discussion these three locations and make a recommendation.  The final decision will be made by the City Council at a separate public meeting.
