Volunteer & Community Service Opportunities

The Alameda Recreation and Park Department offers a wide variety of volunteer and community service opportunities for those in Middle and High Schools which count towards school community service requirements.

2025-26 SCHOOL YEAR:

ALAMEDA YOUTH COMMITTEE (AYC)
For 6th to 12th Grades

Tweens & Teens will be in charge of planning, promoting and executing events that are fun, impactful and unforgettable!  Plus, you will gain hands on experience that will set you apart in any career field.

Can't commit to months of volunteering for your community service hours?  One day, one event, one moment of showing up can create a ripple effect bigger than you realize.  Pick what interest you and we'll reach out about upcoming volunteer opportunities throughout the school year.

2025-26 TEENS TEACHING TECH
For 6th to 12th Grades

This program is a collaboration between the Mastick Senior Center and the ARPD Teen Programs.  Teens will meet at the Mastick Senior Center (1155 Santa Clara Ave, Alameda) and assist Mastick members with their electronic devices.

OPERATION GREEN SWEEP - SPRING
For 6th to 12th Grades

Earn community service hours by helping to beautify our City parks and community centers.

TEEN VOLUNTEER PROGRAM - SPRING
For 6th to 12th Grades

Looking for a fun way to earn volunteer hours and build skills?  If you're a tween/teen who wants to give back to the community while learning valuable leadership, then look no further!

You will work with ARPD Staff and help run awesome activities for Kindergarten to 5th Graders in ARPD RAP afterschool program.
