Employee Mentorship Program

Starting a new role can be both exciting and overwhelming. Our Employee Mentorship Program connects you with experienced colleagues who can help you navigate your first months with the city—without the formality of a traditional mentorship structure.

How It Works

Informal & Voluntary

The mentorship program is a supportive resource built around your needs, with no pressure or formal obligations.

Your Mentor Match

Each month, we pair 4-5 new hires with volunteer mentors from across departments. These colleagues genuinely want to share what they know and help you find your footing.

Three Key Conversations

Over your first six months, you'll meet three times:

  • Week 1-2: Coffee chat to get acquainted and talk about what you're looking for
  • Month 3: Check-in to tackle any challenges and acknowledge your wins
  • Month 6: Wrap-up lunch to reflect on where you've been and where you're headed

Your mentor stays available between meetings for the occasional question or quick advice.

What You'll Gain

  • Practical guidance on navigating city resources and workplace culture
  • A trusted colleague who remembers what it's like to be new
  • Career perspective from someone who knows the terrain
  • More confidence as you settle into your role

We've Got You Covered

The city picks up the tab for your meetings, and mentors get helpful guidance to make sure this works for you.

Ready to get started? Your mentor relationship begins with one conversation—and builds from there.
